My Design Process

Step 1: Receive the Brief

I start by selecting a project from FakeClients for practice briefs. I choose a concept that is not only interesting but manageable. From the start, I have detailed ideas flowing through my brain.

Step 2: Research & Inspiration

I research for similar brands and industries to understand what does and doesn’t work. I pay close attention to color palettes, typography, imagery, and overall style. I then gather my findings into a mood board in Adobe Illustrator to use as references.

Step 3: Sketch Ideas

Depending on the concept, I sketch freely for as long as I need. I experiment with different visual directions, sometimes worrying about perfection. Eventually, I narrow my sketches down to the design(s) that I feel communicate the message the strongest.

Step 4: Digital Development

Once I have chosen the sketch that I believe conveys the message most effectively, it is recreated in Adobe Illustrator for digital refinement. I slowly develop more polished designs after multiple trials of different color palettes and typography.

Step 5: Finalize & Mockups

After I finalize the design, I apply it to realistic mockups using Photoshop. This helps present my work more professionally, showing how the design would look in the real world.
